otherwise, you're probably either someone i haven't talked to in a while, or, on the other end of the extreme, you're one of a handful of people who've probably given up on me as an artist.

no matter who you are (unless you don't care, in which case, again, exit's on the right), this ugly post that's currently taking up a small spot on the front page is here to tell you what i've been doing. as the title implies. ghhhfg

but uh. i didn't stop drawing, for anyone who thinks i did. i've been drawing a lot. in fact, if you take a look at my deviantART account, you'll see that i've been updating on things somewhat frequently. if you haven't been there in a while or have never been there, there are a lot of new things that you probably haven't seen yet. i will admit, though, that i have been drawing less than i was, say, last semester. i'm nowhere close to productive right now, and im not going to lie about it. and that's probably just because that's how life can be.

i still do want to pursue a career in animation, but i'm going to be honest here, i haven't touched flash in months. although i don't really get why that's much of a surprise to anyone anyway because ive really only made one thing that wasn't that good to begin with. but whether you like my stuff (?) or you hate me for being unproductive, i guess i have some good news. i'm planning on getting back into newgrounds and animating in general once i've squared a couple things away. but there's more to life than just animating. and personally, i enjoy art and music a lot more than animating. doesn't mean i'm going to stop doing it forever, but on the other end of the spectrum, you're a moron if you try to fool anyone into thinking you have to animate and be a productivity machine 24/7 to be a decent human being because chances are, you're not so hot yourself.

but anyway, i guess im just ranting. haa

otherwise, thanks to anyone who hasn't totally lost faith in me as an animator. and to anyone who has, well, that's your call but maybe you'll get some back when i start creating whatever i choose to create in the near future.

ok so a few weeks ago i read some blog that really spoke to me. essentially it implied that if i studied the ANIMATION in the new years looney toons marathon, it might be JUST the thing to improve my artistic skills. as an animator who has failed to get into the industry 3 and a half times (at the time), i was ready to grab onto anything that could make me the star that would SAVE the animation industry... just like in the dreams ive coveted ever so much since i was merely a child! (john k's blog)

i did just as this legendary prophecy told me to do and I have to say, it worked with wonders! but it didn't stop with just studying the animation. i recently found it made me even better to TRACE individual cels from some of the better cartoon classics, like one of my personal favorites, "mortimer mouse eats a sandwich". even more recently, i took it a step further and stopped actually drawing and creating characters, but instead changed my gameplan to JUST drawing the stars from these old cartoon hits. with utmost success in 2 weeks time i became a far better artist AND animator than the LOSER i was 2 weeks ago. and now im gonna prove it to you.

here are some of the things i've learned in my quest for stardom. maybe they'll teach you younger "newbie" animators a thing or two!

HEY long time no post. ok well at least a month or something. i dont know. but anyways hi merry christmas. i was planning on doing nothing and playing pokemon over the whole break and i wouldve gotten away with it too if it werent for that stupid shirt turtle and his schemes to take over my perfect holiday.

in other words i did something for something. expect it soon. (edit: go to the bottom of the newspost)

ALSO my family opens christmas presents on christmas eve because i live with my cousins and they cant wait to open shit up. i wasnt expecting to get anything for christmas this year because the cash is tight so i told my mother to try to make my cousins a good christmas with the money we had but i ended up getting some lovely pastel pencils, sketchbooks and a whole watercolor set with oil paints and brushes! i'm psyched to start using these!

also i did this before the holidays with pastels on newsprint. its my friend fred holding an ipod. proof that im still doing shit every once in a while.

[This post is pretty much a different version of what I said in the BBS.]

Well first of all, Tom rocks.

Second, I guess now would be a decent time to mention I've been on an internet hiatus. Generally I've just been practicing and relearning things I've barely worked at and/or didn't really study hard when trying to grasp. I'm gonna be on break for the next few months. And after that I'm working on something else.

Third, thanks to Tom, Ansel, Rtil, Ukinojoe, Emanhattan, and everyone else (whos names escape me presently) who congratulated me in the thread. And thanks to everyone who tries to kick my ass and get me to make things.

Fourth, if you want to, look down at the picture below. It's proof that I haven't been doing completely nothing lately. It's a miscellaneous collection of practice. It may not look like much to the majority of you, but it's pretty much the best examples of the hours of practice I've been doing each day for the past week, and the hours of practice I'll continue doing each day for the next few months.
